Mini Diet Privacy Policy
The short version
Everything you do in the app - the habits you pick, your schedules, your completions, your streaks, your preferences - stays on your device. The app has no account system, makes no network connections, and contains no analytics, advertising, or tracking of any kind. We couldn't look at your data even if we wanted to, because it never reaches us.

1. Who we are

2. What data the app stores — and where
MiniDiet stores the following information only on your device, in a private database that other apps cannot read:
- Your habits - which habits you've accepted, scheduled, completed, or archived
- Your schedules and reminders - when habits repeat and when reminders fire
- Your streaks and progress - completion history, streak counts, unlocked habits
- Your preferences - the goal categories you picked, your dietary preference (e.g., vegetarian or vegan), notification settings, and onboarding choices
None of this is transmitted anywhere. It is not sent to us, not sent to any third party, and not used to identify you. There is no account, no sign-up, no email address, no name, and no device identifier associated with it.
We know dietary and eating-habit information is personal. That's exactly why MiniDiet was built local-first: information about how you eat belongs to you, on your device, and nowhere else.
3. What we do NOT do
To be completely explicit, MiniDiet:
- ❌ does not collect or transmit any personal data
- ❌ does not require or offer accounts or logins
- ❌ does not connect to the internet (the app works fully offline)
- ❌ does not contain analytics or crash-reporting SDKs (no Google Analytics, no Firebase Analytics, no Sentry, etc.)
- ❌ does not show ads or contain advertising SDKs
- ❌ does not use cookies or tracking technologies
- ❌ does not access your contacts, location, camera, microphone, photos, or files
- ❌ does not sell, share, or trade any data — there is nothing to sell
4. Notifications
If you choose to enable habit reminders, they are scheduled locally on your device by the Android operating system. No notification data leaves your phone.
The following Android permissions and optional system access support habit reminders:
- Notifications (
POST_NOTIFICATIONS) - to show your habit reminders (Android asks for your consent; reminders are optional and off until you enable them) - Run at startup (
RECEIVE_BOOT_COMPLETED) - so your scheduled reminders survive a phone restart - Exact alarms (
SCHEDULE_EXACT_ALARM) - optional Android special app access that helps reminders arrive at the time you selected, including while your device is idle. MiniDiet does not show an installation-time prompt for this setting. You can enable it manually in Android Settings under Alarms & reminders. If it remains disabled, reminders continue using less precise scheduling.
One thing worth knowing: reminder notifications display the habit's name (for example, "Drink a glass of water"), which may be visible on your lock screen depending on your device's lock-screen settings. You can restrict lock-screen notification content in your Android system settings at any time.
5. Device backups (Google's, not ours)
If you have Android device backup enabled (a feature of your phone and your Google account, not of MiniDiet), Android may include MiniDiet's local database in your device backup. This means your habits can be restored when you switch to a new phone.
To be clear about how this works:
- The backup is created and encrypted by Google's Android backup service, under your Google account and your device settings. We have no access to it.
- You control it entirely: you can turn device backup off in Android Settings, and you can delete existing backups through your Google account.
- This is the only way any MiniDiet data ever leaves your device automatically - and it goes to your own Google backup, not to us.
6. Crash logs (local, and shared only by you)
If the app crashes, technical details about the crash (error message, technical stack trace, app version) are saved on your device only - at most 20 reports, containing no personal data and no information about your habits.
You can view, share, or delete these logs yourself in About → Diagnostics. Nothing is ever sent automatically. If you choose to share a crash log with us (for example, by emailing it to support), we use it solely to diagnose and fix the problem, and we delete it once the issue is resolved.
7. Data retention and deletion
Because all data lives on your device, you are in full control:
- Deleting individual data: remove habits in the app; clear crash logs in About → Diagnostics.
- Deleting everything: uninstall the app. This permanently deletes the entire local database. There is no server copy - once it's gone, it's gone.
- Deleting backups: if device backup was enabled, remove the backup through your Google account settings (Google → Backup).
We have no "data deletion request" process because we hold no data to delete. Uninstalling is the deletion.
8. Children
MiniDiet is intended for adults (18+). It is not directed at children, and since the app collects no data from anyone, it collects no data from children.
9. Your privacy rights (GDPR, CCPA)
Privacy laws like the EU's GDPR and California's CCPA/CPRA give you rights over personal data that companies collect about you - rights to access it, correct it, delete it, port it, and object to its processing.
MiniDiet satisfies these rights by design: we do not collect, process, store, or share any personal data, so there is nothing for us to give you access to, correct, delete, or port - everything is already in your hands, on your device. You can exercise every one of these rights directly, without asking anyone's permission.
If you believe we're not living up to this policy, contact us at minidiet.support@gmail.com. If you're in the EU/EEA, you also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority - though we'd appreciate the chance to fix any concern first.
10. Security
Your data is stored in MiniDiet's app-private storage area, which Android isolates from other apps. The app uses only the minimal Android permissions and optional system access described in Section 4 for reminders, and it makes no network connections. We review the app's security posture before each release.
11. Changes to this policy
If MiniDiet ever changes how it handles data - for example, a future version that downloads new habit packs from the internet - we will update this policy before releasing that version, update the effective date at the top, and describe the change in plain language in the app's release notes. The current version of this policy will always be available at this URL.
We will never retroactively change what happens to data you've already created: it's on your device, and it stays under your control.
